STEM Engineering
About the class...
STEM Engineering is a class in which students will explore the world of engineering through research, design, and fabrication using a variety of technology. We use PLTW curriculum along with some of VMS' projects and assignments. Project Lead The Way (PLTW) prepares students to be the most innovative and productive leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and to make meaningful, pioneering contributions to our world.
FAB LAB...
In 2014, BTD, a tool and die company in Lakeville, donated money to Valley Middle School of STEM for a FAB LAB (fabrication laboratory). A FAB LAB is "a place where almost anything can be made." Our lab consists of 32 computers with Autodesk Inventor (Computer Aided Design software), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and more. We have 2 Roland Vinyl Cutters, four 3D printers, a laser engraver/cutter, CNC Router, ID Card Maker, and 3D scanner. We will be adding to the lab this fall. Check out our FAB LAB Project Page for examples!
